Creativity: A Transferable Skill

"There is a vitality, a life-force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost."

Sir Ken Robinson was featured in the documentary In Search of Greatness, a film I suggested in a previous post. After watching the film I read his book Out of Our Minds. In this book he states, "We all have profound natural capacities, but we all have them differently. If we fail to promote a full sense of people's abilities through education and training, some, perhaps most, will never discover what their real capacities are."

I strongly believe that Movement Brooklyn is a space to research our creativity, develop tools for freedom of movement, and reconnect with our movement potential. I also believe that the benefits of creative exploration are not limited to the arena they are practiced in. Creativity is transferable. The more we delve into our imaginations and express them through creativity, the more they have potential to transcend into our creativity and potential innovation outside of our movement practice.
